i mean i really doubt it, but say i wanted to play a game on a russian server, and i looked up the alphabet on a translator, could i take the russian letter ( say R ) and figure that it is the english letter r? or would that be wrong because they dont sound the same....?Does russian translate directly to english?
I'm not entirely clear what you mean by translating directly, but whatever you might mean, the answer would be no; knowing the alphabet is not enough to understand the language; word-for-word translation from English results in badly broken Russian which doesn't even necessarily get the basic meaning across; and Russian isn't pronounced exactly as it's written.Does russian translate directly to english?
Transliteration wise? Heck no! Considering we have letters not in English and English has letters not in Russian. If you mean communication wise, no again. Russian uses a different sentence structure, word order and grammar rules, so no. It would result in a horribly broken manner. Plus Russian isn't phonetic. Translations are not always word for word. Nor same word order. Anyone with a basic linguistic background know those rules apply to every language, not just Russian.
